the worlds energy consumption rate is projected to double from 13.5 TW in 2001 to 27 TW by 2050 and to triple to 43 TW by 2100 (lewis, nocera; 2006)
the logic behind these numbers is rather elegant. you suppose a population size..project the amount of economic productivity that should accompany a population of that size…and then extrapolate to the amount of energy that must be expended to achieve that productivity. obviously, there is a rather large margin of inexactness that accompanies each of these assumptions. nevertheless, in its vague way, this has rather a "law" of civilization character to it. a kind of function in which energy requirement is correlated with population size.
all of this was formulated in an attempt to estimate carbon dioxide emissions…a Wikipedia discussion is found in an article entitles "Kaya identity"

the k-vessel took hold of your physical features. you stared at us through the screen and began to speak:" In the apology of the dream as a means of escape- in the appeal to a supernatural life- only the abstract, unreal will for change is expressed. Expressing one's will in this way is, essentially, its denial. Opposed to this, the only thing opposed to this, is the will to transform the profound cause of human disgust, the will to upset social relationships generally, the practical will- the revolutionary will. Love must be reinvented. Or rather, economics, property, every existing social organization, even the human species itself must all be reinvented, because, in their present state, they are impediments to any genuine realization +=++{={' (after Breton LES VASES COMMUNICANTS section 2)
